Gillian graduated from Loughborough University in 1999 with a first class degree in B.Sc. (Hons) Physical Education, Sports Science and Recreation Management.  Since then, she has built up 12 years experience working in sports development, spending five years based in Essex, working for a local authority sports development team, and then moving into a School Sport Partnership.

Gillian moved to West Yorkshire in 2005 to become one of the first 20 Competition Managers in the country and spent 5 years working in this field.  She was a member of the National Competition Development Group and has extensive knowledge of NGB competition pathways and school sport structures.  In January 2011, having completed a course in Management and Leadership in Sport & Athletic Administration, Gillian took part in an exchange programme with Endicott College to study the American school and collegiate sport systems.

In April 2011, Gillian moved to the role of Development Manager at WYSport and currently takes the lead on the Sport Makers and Volunteer in Sport Programmes and is involved in the development of the School Games.  Gillian is also the West Yorkshire Youth Dance Hub Co-ordinator and takes the lead on physical activity projects.

Gillian has participated at county level at netball and currently competes in the West Yorkshire Netball League.  She is Secretary of Fusion Netball Club and is a level 2 netball coach.
