Disability Development Officer
James graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2003 with a BA (Hons) Sport and Recreation Development degree. Following the completion of his degree, James has worked in sports development for the past 8 years including roles in the charity, education and public sectors across Yorkshire.
James’ current role is split between West Yorkshire Sport and the Federation of Disability Sport (FDSO) and focuses on increasing the opportunities for disabled people in sport and physical activity across the Partnership. His specialist areas include project management, events delivery and stakeholder engagement.
His passion for sport and working with minority groups is evident and he has worked on a number of projects using sport for social change. He is currently a committee member of the Yorkshire Visually Impaired Cricket Club and a member of the Wheelchair Rugby League development group.
James recently completed a Certificate in Business Management from the University of Leeds Business School and is a part-time lecturer on the Sports Development course at Leeds Metropolitan University, covering modules in strategic management and project planning. He is also a Member of the Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity.
In his spare time James enjoys running, mountain biking and climbing.
