Julian graduated from Essex University in 1992 with a B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy and also gained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Textile Technology from the University of Huddersfield in 1997.
He qualified the National Council for the Training of Journalists' Preliminary Newspaper Reporting qualification in 2000 and worked at the Huddersfield Daily Examiner (part of the Trinity Mirror Group) as Content Developer for their relaunched Website during 2001. In 2002 he became Editor of their lifestyle magazine 'Select' and stayed for three years.
In 2005 he was made redundant and set up an art company Trash II Treasure, making artworks, design & photography, corporate video and staging an annual show during Holmfirth Artweek.
Julian joined WYSport part time in 2007 as Communications and Events, bringing jounalism, video production, web and print design skills.
A keen advocate of social media, Julian sits on the national County Sports Partnership Network Marketing and Communications group, steering development of marketing and communications across the network of 49 County Sports Partnerships.
A newcomer to sport, Julian bought a mountain bike in 2007 and used to ride the 11-mile commute most days until the office moved to Gildersome. In what little spare time he has left, he fronts a hard rock band.
