Sporting Champions

Sporting Champions brings World Class Athletes into schools and local communities to inspire and motivate young people to take part in sport.

Over the past five years we have supported ten visits to events and organisations involving athletes such Darren Bilton, Craig Heap, Rachel Mckenzie and Beth Tweddle.

The next year

We will continue to operate the Sporting Champions scheme across West Yorkshire to promote Sportivate and other programmes.

In addition Pre Games Training Camps involving international teams being based in West Yorkshire offer the potential for local people to be connected to the Games.

The Torch Relay will be visiting West Yorkshire on the June 24th next year; we will be working with local partners to encourage sports events as part of the celebrations.
