MAKING A BIG NOISE FOR LEAUKAEMIA - Wakey Wheeled Cats roller derby league is  proud to announce that its latest event will raise money for W.O.L.F – Wakefield Oncology Leukaemia Fund.

The league, which has previously raised money for Wakefield domestic violence charity the Rosalie Ryrie Foundation, Wakefield Hospice and the Wakefield Cathedral Project 2013 fund, will donate all proceeds from their latest band night to the registered charity, which provides home comforts for cancer and leukaemia patients at Pinderfields Hospital, Pontefract Hospital and Dewsbury and District Hospital.

Among other vital comforts W.O.LF. has provided, the charity funded a ground-breaking scalp cooling system for patients receiving chemotherapy and more recently, a blood analyser  which allows patients to receive results quicker.

The fundraiser takes place at The Hop, Bank Street, Wakefield, on Saturday, July 7, from 7pm, and features three local bands.

Headliners Boxing Club, from Wakefield and Dewsbury, All Down But 9, and the city's own Captain S***beard.

The acoustic set and live music will be followed by a DJ set from the Cats.

Entry is £3.50 and all proceeds go to W.O.L.F.

Event organiser Danielle Millea said: “W.O.L.F provide an invaluable service and it is one that is very close to the skater's hearts. We're thrilled to be raising money for such a well-deserving charity.
“We hope as many music fans as possible will come along and support W.O.L.F, the local bands, and the city's only roller derby league.”
