Volunteer in Sport project:

The Volunteers in Sport project is a scheme run by West Yorkshire Sport to build a sustainable volunteer network in West Yorkshire through placing a Volunteer in Sport Coordinator officer in each of the 5 districts.

The project was awarded the prestigious Inspire mark in April 2010 in recognition of its use of the 2012 Games to create and promote volunteering opportunities.

The Volunteer in Sport programme aims to create lifelong partnerships between clubs and up-skilled volunteers that will help deliver a positive legacy for sport.

The outcomes and outputs of the project are intended to leave in place a dynamic, coordinated, and sustainable infrastructure for sports volunteering. Both clubs and volunteers will benefit from an increase in skills and opportunities.

As part of our 2012 legacy strategy, The Volunteer in Sport programme aims to:
• Increase the numbers of people volunteering in sports clubs and sports events
• Up-skill sports volunteers
• Increase the capacity of sports clubs to manage and support sports volunteers

Getting involved:

As a volunteer - if you would like to be a volunteer in sport register your interest  or contact your district Volunteer in Sport Coordinator.

As a club needing volunteers – Please contact your district Volunteer in Sport Coordinator who will be able to support you in identifying volunteers for your club.
