West Yorkshire Sport - Supporting sport and physical activity across West Yorkshire

About Us

West Yorkshire Sport (WYSport) is the County Sports Partnership (CSP) for five districts of West Yorkshire; Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield. The West Yorkshire Sport Jobs and vacancies pages list a variety of jobs across the three major cities and towns including Dewsbury, Batley, Huddersfield and Halifax. We promote grassroots Yorkshire sport with news, eventsactivities, calendars and deliver major projects for national partners like Sport England such as Sportivate activity, Sport Makers, the Olympic inspired School Games and coach education as well as promoting participation in sport and physical activity.

The legacy of 2012

2012 was an exciting year for sport with athletes heading down to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games such as wheelchair racing star Calderdale's Hanna Cockroft who carried the Olympic Torch through Leeds on her way to grabbing two gold medals. See the West Yorkshire 2012 Olympians and Paralympians. This Olympic year also saw the launch of the School Games as part of Places People Play, the National Olympic legacy programme, and WYSport is looking forward to delivering the 2013 School Games and Paragames to the county's schools through the School games Organiser SGO network. Safeguarding children in Sport is massively important, and we have attained the gold standard for our child protection. The West Yorkshire sports partnership is the wider network of education, health and leisure organisations tasked with making sport and physical activity part of our lives.

Volunteering & Coaching

WYSport also is active in increasing volunteering and coaching, with the Inspire marked Volunteers in Sport project and Coaching WY, the one stop shop for advice and coach education course information. We maintain the biggest sports club search database in West Yorkshire on behalf of our partners in the five County Sports networks (CSNs). wysport.co.uk, formerly westyorkshiresport.co.uk is also the main resource for jobs, local sport news, funding contacts, club advice and fun activities across the county.

National Governing Bodies

Our National Governing Body (NGB) and Sport pages - Angling, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball & Softball, Basketball, Boccia, Bowls, Boxing, Canoeing, Cricket, Cycling, Dance, Equestrian, Fencing, Football, Goalball, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Lacrosse, Modern Pentathlon, Mountaineering, Netball, Orienteering, Rounders, Rowing, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Shooting, Snowsport & Disability Snowsport UK, Squash & Racketball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water ski & Wakeboard, Weightlifting, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby, Wrestling - provide contacts for key national Governing Bodies of sports as well as events and activities, back to sport sessions and news on teams like the Yorkshire Jets NTL netball team. Our Disability sport pages are of interest whether you want to play sport or volunteer helping people of different abilities get the most out of an active life. If you want to be part of the greater discussion on sport development in West Yorkshire - we welcome your input on our facebook and twitter pages - just search for wysport.
