Published on: 22nd August 2011
Bradford Dragons are working with schools across Calderdale to launch new basketball sessions to encourage the growth of basketball in the district and build upon existing sessions
As well as the new Monday after school session at Crossley Heath school, Halifax, Dragons have teamed up with Calder High School in the west of the district to start a new U12 session on Wednesdays after school
Stuart Culliford, chairman of Bradford Dragons BC said, ‘We are delighted to team up with Calder High School, West Yorkshire Sport and other basketball supporters in Calderdale to develop these two new U12 sessions in the district. We hope to find lots of new players to take up the game or to develop their existing playing skills. There is a player development pathway in place as we hope to develop U12 teams at both centres to play in the monthly Bradford & district U12 central venue league and the keenest players can also go on to play national league basketball with Dragons U14 boy’s. We will also be encouraging young players to support Dragons 1 senor men in as they start the new season in EBL division 1 for the first time in September’
