Yorkshire RFUW

Congratulations are due to our girls who played for Yorkshire against Northumberland on 16 October 2011. Our U15 representatives were Megan Owens, Abbie Mayes and Liane Downes. Our U18 players were Kirsty Shires, Hannah Mayes and Rachael Lowe.

Girls Cluster event at Castleford RUFC on Sunday 23 October at 1 pm

We are hosting a Contact Skills session on Sunday. This will be run in conjunction with the RFU and we are hoping that a number of new players from local schools will attend. We are welcoming all players to come and have an enjoyable training session followed by matches to put the new skills into operation.

Girls tour proposal

This year we intend not only to enter the Keswick 7s competition but also to take the opportunity of expanding our horizons and making the weekend something special. We would like to stay over in Keswick for the whole weekend and participate in outward bound activities during the Saturday before the tournament on Sunday.

Recruitment

We are continuing our recruitment drive for girls from school years 6 and 7 to join our U13, years 8, 9 and 10 for our U15 and years 11, 12 and 13 for our U18 girls’ rugby squads.

We want not only absolute beginners but experienced players to come down to the club and everyone is encouraged to bring a friend, too.

Castleford RUFC “LittLe Acorns”: Girls rugby project

We are doing our bit to encourage girls to take up and maintain their interest in sport, and rugby in particular, by our recruitment drive for girls from school years 6 and 7 to join their U13, years 8, 9 and 10 for U15 and years 11, 12 and 13 for the U18 girls’ rugby squads... and to seek players for a newly to be-formed ladies team.

We want not only absolute beginners but experienced players to come down to the club and everyone is encouraged to bring a friend, too.

We want to make a positive contribution to girls rugby for the future.

Attracting girls and their families to the club will enable girls to enjoy their sport in an environment that is friendly and encourages participation as well as the social side of being a member of a true family club.
