FW: Boys Only! Dance, Leeds - July 2012
Published on: 14th June 2012
Boys Only! provides access to inclusive, high-energy, intensive dance workshops and positive role models. Using funds raised from a Billy Elliot - The Musical Gala, the Royal Academy of Dance launched the programme with the aim of widening participation in dance through open access events specifically targeting young men aged 8 - 18 years old with little or no dance experience. It is now a national programme working in collaboration with a range of regional partners delivering ballet from a fresh perspective in conjunction with other dance styles.
The Boys Only! dance event taking place in Leeds on Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 July 2012. The weekend is suitable for boys aged 8-18 years, from beginners through to more experienced dancers.
The weekend in a nutshell
The two-day workshop will be led by experienced and inspirational male teachers from the Royal Academy of Dance and Northern Ballet. The event will take place at the home of Northern Ballet dance company and Phoenix Dance Theatre, in their fantastic, purpose built dance studios.
Previous attendees have successfully gone on to audition for the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT Programme), at the Northern Ballet Academy.
