Published on: 7th September 2011
What is a Player Development Centre? A Player Development Centre (PDC) is a local County FA licenced football training centre for U11, U13 & U15 age groups.
It works closely with local grassroots clubs and the FA Centre of Excellence programme, to build strong links between partners delivering and developing women & girls football across the district.
The 30 centres in the country are part of the FA’s re-structured talent development programme.
The West Riding County FA PDC offers young talented players access to an age appropriate, high quality 20 week football training programme to aid their overall development in football.Players gain access to the PDC through a trial process.
Players can be nominated for a trial by their teacher or their grassroots coach when it is appropriate for the player’s development.
What can I expect to receive at a PDC?The PDC 20 week programme is committed to providing successful candidates with one evening of extra training and support a week, from appropriately qualified coaches.
This is extra to the players’ local grassroots club or school team commitments.Players will also be invited to play friendly fixtures against other PDCs, which will allow them to show their true potential in a match situation.
