Join us for a family fun afternoon of sports and games in our Kirklees Youth Games Flame Celebration.
Friday 24 August
12noon – 4pm
Leeds Road Sports Complex, Huddersfield
Activities include:
Athletics, Archery, Battax walls, Boccia, Bowling, Cricket, Curling, Cycling, Dance performances and music, Fencing, Football, Golf and Tri-golf, Multi-skills, Nordic, Walking, Tennis, Wheelchair basketball, Wheelchair rugby, Zorbing.
Celebrate the Paralympic Torch Relay
Bring the family to enjoy inclusive sports and activities suitable for children and young people aged 7 years and above. Book your place now.
The Paralympic Flame
Four Flames will be lit in London, Greater Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff at celebration events. The Flame from London will then be split and travel to York where Lanterns will be lit and carried to different parts of Yorkshire and Humberside.
The Lantern is due to arrive at around 3.30 - 4pm. Former Paralympic weightlifter Paul Cartwright, from Batley, will receive the Flame after it has been carried on a lap of honour round the athletics track.
Booking Information
Booking is essential so that we can plan for appropriate numbers of coaches, volunteers and activities.
All the activities and sports on offer are open to all children and young people regardless of their ability. We particularly welcome children with a disability or sensory impairment.
