Limber up for strictly For Beginners dance class

Published on: 3rd October 2011

Couples are invited to dance their way to good health at a new class in Keighley.

Inspired by the popularity of the hit television show Strictly Come Dancing, Bradford Council’s Sport and Leisure Services has organised a six-week course in Latin American and Ballroom dance.

Aimed Strictly For Beginners, the course will start at Victoria Hall in Keighley on Wednesday, 26 October from 7-8.30pm. The class will be limited initially to 20 couples so people of all ages are encouraged to book their places early.

The new class will teach participants the Waltz, which works the upper body and core, Rumba, which works the abs and waist, and the Quickstep and Cha Cha Cha, which are great cardio workouts.

Coun Ghazanfer Khaliq, Bradford Council’s Executive Member responsible for Sport and Leisure, said: “Strictly For Beginners will give participants the chance to get fit, have fun and learn how to move the Strictly Come Dancing way.

“The class should appeal to a diverse range of people, many of whom may never have considered dancing or even exercising before.”

Dance teachers Pauline and Darrel Smith are both professionally qualified and will use a soundtrack similar to Strictly Come Dancing.

The class costs £5 per person, per session. For further information or to book a place please contact Victoria Hall on 01535 681763. Entry on the night has to be made through the Leisure Centre in Keighley.
