FA Mars Just Play! is a national initiative between the FA and Mars to encourage more adults to play football. Just Play! is an easy and informal opportunity for adults to play football in an enjoyable and comfortable environment.
The programme is designed for all adult footballers, regardless of experience, fitness or ability. The sessions are informal and fun but those players that are looking for a route into affiliated football will be signposted to small sided and 11 a-side provision within the local area. Due to the flexible nature of the programme FA Mars Just Play! Centres can be adapted to focus on local needs. The centres can be run from local leisure centres, small sided football centres or even local parks.
FA Mars Just Play! is a key part of The FA’s National Game Strategy, directing £200 million into grassroots football to support the growth of the game as well as raising standards. The FA and Sport England, with the support of Mars, are working together to attract 150,000 new adults into football by September 2013 and we hope that upwards of 100 FA Mars Just Play! Centres will help us achieve this.
For some players affiliated football is not an option, because of the lack of desire, time commitment, ability or simply that they don’t want to play competitive football. For these players, FA Mars Just Play! offers a viable alternative to allow them to engage with the game in an organised, but informal way – something that hasn’t been on offer before.
