RUMOUR HAS IT THERE'S BEEN A ROLLER DERBY EPIDEMIC!

Start Hallowe'en early by watching a ghoulish display of roller derby as Wakey Wheeled Cats take on Nottingham's Hellfire Harlots on October 29.

Wakey Wheeled Cats host their third home bout hot on the success of their last win, which saw the team beat Perth's Fair City Rollers 169-99 last month.

The Nottingham team looks set to be Wakey's toughest opposition to date, with a highly-regarded squad featuring a skater who will represent England in the Roller Derby World Cup in Toronto this December.

And to celebrate Hallowe'en, the bout will have a zombie theme, inspired by hit movie 28 Days Later.

Cats captain and co-founder Kirsty Quinn said: “The match against the Harlots will really test the Cats, we are missing some established players and they are a solid, tactical team with a win against Liverpool's Birds fresh under their belts.  However, we have some new star players and the team is keen to get another win for Wakefield. This is likely to be a very competitive game to watch, as well as a fun way to spend a Saturday evening.”

Roller derby is a family-friendly sport and fans of all ages are welcome.

Entertainment includes a wicked fancy dress competition, ghoulish face painting, hellish merchandise stall and a fully licensed bar.
