Looking for help with Funding your Club?
To support local clubs, West Yorkshire Sport is putting on a number of 'Running Sports' workshops for clubs.
The first two of these explore different ways to fund your club or support clubs looking to apply to the Sport England Small grant programme.
Two further workshops are designed to help clubs who are looking to gain the tax benefits of becoming a Community Amateur Sports Club, or those that are considering taking on ownership of a sports facility through the transfer of assets from local government to the club.
The details and dates of courses in the next few months are:
Funding your Club Workshop
Thur 9th Feb, 6.30 – 9.30pm at Cleckheaton Sports Club, Cleckheaton. Cost £30
Every sports club could use more money and better publicity. This workshop provides practical ideas for raising funds from a range of sources, including fund-raising events and sponsorship. It will also help you to identify how you can promote your sports club more effectively.
Sport England Small Grants Workshop
Wed 22nd Feb, 6.30 - 9.30 pm Glasshoughton Centre, Castleford. Cost £30
If you have identified a project that requires funding, your club could tap into anything from £300 to £10,000 with an application to the Lottery funded Sport England Small Grants programme. This workshop will help you understand the scheme better, develop your application and avoid common mistakes that can hamper your application.
Asset Transfers Workshop
Thur 1st Mar, 6.30 – 9.30pm at Cleckheaton Sports Club, Cleckheaton. Cost FREE
Asset transfers are a complex area and can often be a daunting task for a sports club to undertake. If you’re a sports volunteer whose club are considering taking ownership of facilities, then this FREE workshop is for you. An expert tutors will help you to capitalise on the transfer of land and buildings from government to the voluntary and community sports sector. Plus, it will help you get the most out of Sport England’s Online Community Sport Asset Transfer Toolkit.
Community Amateur Sport Club (CASC) Workshop
Thur 15th Mar, 6.30 – 9.30pm at Cleckheaton Sports Club, Cleckheaton. Cost £30
The CASC scheme was introduced in April 2002 and has enabled many local amateur sports clubs to register with the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and benefit from a range of tax relief including a mandatory 80% rate relief and Gift Aid. Make sure your club doesn’t miss out and can spend more of its cash on things that matter. All you have to do is attend this practical CASC workshop, which gives you everything you need to find out if applying for CASC is right for your club and how to make an application.
