ENTER A WORLD OF SPEED AND SPECTALCE!
Wakey Wheeled Cats will be looking to end the year on a high as they host their final bout of their home season on November 19.
The Cats face tough competition from Newcastle Roller Girls at Starfight Express, to be held at Huddersfield Sports Centre.
The theme of the bout has been inspired by Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock musical Starlight Express, which features performers on roller skates, and will have a family-friendly atmosphere.
The Cats will be looking to re-gain face after losing to Nottingham's Hellfire Harlots on October 29, the team's last bout.
Cats' captain and co-founder, Kirsty Quinn, said: “This is the season finale for Wakey and it has been a big first year for us. We’ve finally become a competing team, both at home and away - including travelling up to Scotland in January.
“The Cats have experienced some impressive wins, as well as losses, with some amazing competition from other teams.
“Newcastle Roller Girls are a solid hard-hitting team who started roughly at the same time as us, and we are hoping to consolidate everything we’ve learned over the last twelve months to end the year with success.”
Roller derby is a family-friendly sport and fans of all ages are welcome.
Huddersfield Sports Centre has a fully-licensed bar and there will be a variety of stalls selling quirky, cards, hand-made jewellery, skate gear and team merchandise.
