Bulls Wheelchair team through to final

Published on: 5th September 2011

The Bradford Bulls Wheelchair Rugby League team headed for Gillingham for their final game of the Championship Season on Sunday expecting a tough game against the Dragons on their home ground. The superb facilities at Medway Park meant the game was played on a full size international pitch; this was a treat for both players and fans as they saw a classic game of Wheelchair Rugby League as a result.

The Bulls Jack Sykes opened the scoring up within the first minute but the Dragon’s defended their lair fiercely and it was speed, agility and ball skills that kept the game close, exciting and with everything to play for in the second half with the scores 10 – 22 to the Bulls at the break. With both teams tiring it still remained anyone’s game but 4 tries from Bulls speedster Rhys Shears, great support play by their teammates and a great conversion rate from kicker Josh Machen to finally brought the Bulls a hard earned victory and the final score of Medway Dragons 24 – Bradford Bulls 40. This takes the Bulls into the Championship Finals being held in Bradford on September the 11th.
