Trinity Performance Coaching Workshops
In association with West Yorkshire Sport, Trinity Performance are running a series of practical workshops that will provide coaches with a better understanding of sports science theory and research, but presented in a practical, accessible way that they can apply in their coaching. The next two workshops are:
Coping with Anxiety – Mon 30th Jan, 6pm - 9pm
Cost: £15 per person.
Venue: Leeds Trinity University College, Brownberrie Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS18 5HD.
Coping with anxiety is critical to performing well in high pressure situations. Imagine being in any of the following situations:
- A football or rugby penalty in the last minute of a match
- A golf putt to win a championship
- A high catch in cricket
- Match point in tennis, badminton or squash
- A free-throw to win the game in basketball.
Could you cope? This course will examine techniques to do exactly that. Using new EEG technology monitoring brain activity, you will learn how to develop psychological techniques to overcome anxiety. These include relaxation, goal setting, thought stopping and biofeedback.
The course will include practical activities that you can learn, practice and use in either your own performance or to improve the performance of others. These practical techniques are well-researched and tested methods to cope with anxiety that you will be able to practice at any level of sport.
Fitness Assessments for Team Sports or Field Situations – Tues 28th Feb, 6pm - 9pm
Cost: £15 per person.
Venue: Leeds Trinity University College, Brownberrie Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS18 5HD.
This course will examine a range of simple yet accurate physiological tests available that can be used to monitor training and maximise performance in a field or team setting. Attention will be given to the implementation and interpretation of tests aimed at assessing aerobic fitness, speed, strength, power and agility.
These will include a range of practical activities and tests that require minimal specialised equipment and can be implemented by a range of individuals, allowing you to see the correct implementation of physiological tests.
