Dragons downed by Rockets at home

Dragons narrowly lost a tight defensive game against National Trophy holders Reading Rockets by 60 – 63. Although Reading shaded the first quarter, Dragons pulled back to tie the game 29 all at half time in a low scoring game with both teams contesting every point. Reading edged ahead by 2 in the next quarter but with the lead changing 12 times and the game being tied 7 times throughout the game, it was Reading who won the last quarter by 1 to win 63 – 60 on the nigh
For Dragons, Vance Silcott and Michal Ciesla each scored 10 and Rihard Sulcs and Bobby Edmunds each hit 8 points.
After the game Coach Chris Mellor said, ‘We played hard and we did a good job of trying to stop some of the things they wanted to do offensively but like us they put a lot of emphasis on the defensive end of the floor and that made it difficult for us to get anything easy. We kept getting .in six or eight point deficits throughout the second half and fighting back but our free throws at the end let us down. Parker and Lohfink were impressive for them offensively but their big guys screen and rebound and do the things needed to win very well. I though the game would end up being played in the 60 to 70 point margin and even though I am not happy with certain aspects of our play we did a lot right and put ourselves in a position to win down at the end of the game’
