Bradford Dragons comfortably won at home against visitors PAWS London Capitals by 104 – 56 in the latest EBL National Trophy pool home game. Dragons started brightly with a quick fire burst of scoring that Capitals matched to give Dragons a 16 – 13 lead midway through the first quarter, but Dragons stepped on the gas and raced to a 34 – 16 lead at the first break. With Chris McGrew scoring at will on his way to a game high 18 points, the Dragons defence restricted the visitors to 7 points in the second quarter to storm to a 62 to 23 lead at half time. Despite losing the third quarter by 2 points, Dragons pulled further ahead in the last quarter to win 104 -56 at the buzzer as five Dragons players scored double figures and the team defence made 17 steals to 3 from Capitals.

After the game Coach Chris Mellor said,’ It was an excellent team performance with all players making positive contributions. We shot and ran the ball well and our defensive rebounding was good. We still need to improve in certain areas but we have made a reasonable start to life in division one as our two losses have come against two of the strongest teams’.

For Dragons, Chris McGrew and Raimonds Pabrieza both scored 18 with Tom Martin on 16 points

The first Dragons women’s home game in three years saw Dragons win 59 – 38 against Deighton Diamonds in their opening game in the Leeds league women’s division.
