Fantastic development between Leeds United Foundation and Boston Spa

Boston Spa School has strengthened their partnership with Leeds United Football Foundation with the introduction of a new course.
The Leeds United Foundation Football Development Centre at Boston Spa School offers both football training and academic qualifications specifically for Males & Females aged between 16-19 years old. Students can combine full-time study with a football training schedule and the chance to represent The Leeds United Foundation within the college league.
Gary Waddington the Football Development Officer said "Each player is encouraged to achieve their ambitions both in the classroom and on the pitch and with this in mind we have introduced the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sports (Performance & Excellence). This course not only covers the study of sports nutrition, sports performance analysis and anatomy and physiology in sport, it also gives students the opportunity to organise events and relevant experience in sports teaching which is crucial for future employment."
PE Teacher, FA Tutor and FDC Director Mark Swales added “there are many benefits and pathways leading on from success on the course. It offers students a fully recognised qualification for UCAS applications, and gives an insight into the football and sports industry which supports young people in making the right decisions”. The Football Development Centre also gives students the opportunity to gain FA Coaching qualifications and Sports Leaders Awards which develop their skills and enhance their career potential.
The schools partnership with Leeds United has seen England Football players James Milner, Fabien Delph and Sophie Walton study at the school, and most recently Womens England Colleges Football player Fiona Berry who has just left to study Sport Psychology at University of Lancashire, and current Leeds United 1st team players Ade White and Tom Lees

The Leeds United Foundation, in partnership with Boston Spa School, are currently recruiting male and female footballers aged 16-17 Year old for their NEW FULL TIME FOOTBALL STUDY PROGRAMME . The course will comprise of both theoretical and practical lessons including coaching from UEFA coaches, with an opportunity to attain a BTEC Level 3 Qualification in Sport (3 A Levels equivalent) and represent The Leeds United Foundation in the colleges league. There are also opportunities to develop coaching and leadership skills via other various qualifications. The programme will also enable student to gain valuable work experience with The Leeds United Foundation structure which will enhance their career prospects.
