Local non-league side Guiseley AFC have had one of their busiest pre-seasons in recent memory.
The Lions have wasted no time in strengthening their playing squad and Nethermoor ground in preparation for their second season in the Blue Square Bet North.
They narrowly missed out on back-to-back promotions last season after conceding two late goals in their play-off final against AFC Telford. It was still a superb season for the club however and there have been a number of comings and goings over the past month to try and secure promotion this season.
Ex-Bradford City players Mark Bower and Danny Forrest join former Leeds United and Liverpool defenders James Booker and Michael Burns at Nethermoor as well as experienced midfielders Ciaran Toner and Jamie Clarke. Boss Steve Kittrick has also added experienced players such as Lee Ellington, Jamie Clarke as well as promising youngsters Gavin Allott and brothers Alex and Peter Davidson.
Guiseley began this season well, with a 3-0 win at Nethermoor against Hinckley United. Upcoming home fixtures for the Lions include Blyth Spartans on Tuesday 23rd August, Colwyn Bay on Saturday 27th August and Vauxhall Motors on Saturday 3rd September..
With the squad now strengthened and ground improvements afoot, the future looks bright for Guiseley AFC.
