Leeds Sport Development 2011 Annual Report
Published on: 13th October 2011
After a hugely successful year, I am very pleased to attach the Leeds Sport Development 2011 Annual Report. The report highlights a few of our many achievements that show the breadth and diversity of the projects and programmes we deliver. The success of the team however is very dependent on the partnership working with a vast array of individuals and organisations and we have been fortunate in the support that you and your organisations have given us during the year.
The Sport Service is currently going through a restructure and therefore Leeds City Council Sport Development will be delivered differently in 2012 though the high standards will still remain. We will continue to support the voluntary and education sectors through newly appointed Club Development and Schools Officers. Our targeted work on Positive Futures, Disability Sport, Women and Girls and Over 45’s will all have officers to lead those specific areas and there will be enhancements in our physical activity development through Active Lifestyles Officers.
Next year is a very big year for sport with the Olympics coming to the UK and exciting times ahead with new programmes from both the NGB’s and Sport England. The team are looking forward to ensuring such programmes as Sport Makers and Sportivate are a huge success and will encourage many more volunteers and participants into the world of sport.
Finally on a personal note, you may or may not be aware that today is my last day working with Leeds City Council. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the support you have given me and the rest of the Sport Development team over the years and wish you every success in the future.
