More success Natasha and Quest Taekwondo - video
Published on: 1st December 2011
Quest Taekwondo Head Coach Rick Simpson took a team of 15 players to the All Stars 1 on 1 competition at Doncaster Dome last weekend. The purpose of a 1 on 1 competition is for beginners to compete for the first time and/or to gain more experience, and for experienced competitors to get more match time/sharpness before a championship. Each player competes against an evenly matched opponent based on gender, age, weight, height, belt grade and experience.
Quest Taekwondo, which practices Olympic style Taekwondo at its clubs in Keighley, Bingley and Baildon, took their latest crop of talent to this competition mainly for match time leading up to the Children's International Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, which Quest are competing at in February next year.
Results were as follows:
Wins for:
Natasha Burdock (Silsden)
Jake Barnett (Baildon)
Rebecca Weir (Baildon)
Sam Mason (Baildon)
Sam Finnigan (Keighley)
Shane Burgin (Barnsley)
Also competing but lost were:
Luke Jones (Barnsley)
Hannah Priestley (Cullingworth)
Jakub Jarocki (Baildon)
Charlotte Williams (Baildon)
Zak Spencer (Baildon)
Sean McGinnis (Baildon)
Head Coach Rick Simpson was delighted with the performances, despite most competitors winning he added it is not all about winning - 1 on 1 competitions are not a big thing, they are more about performance and experience. Nobody got badly beaten, they were all narrow losses but the performances were solid.
Quest Taekwondo's next objective is to send teenage starlet Natasha Burdock, 13 from Silsden, to the French Open championships at Paris in December. This will be one of the steps she is taking to fight for a place in the Great Britain Team for the World Junior Championships in Egypt in April 2012, as you reported last month.
Watch her in training below!
