Olympic torch comes to Leeds and Huddersfield

WYSport held high the torch for Sport Makers when the Coca-Cola Olympic Torch Tour came Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of Huddersfield this week. The roadshow was part of a dedicated search to find inspirational students -– Future Flames – to carry the Olympic Flame during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.

As the Olympic torch visited both universities, West Yorkshire Sport were present to showcase Sport Makers - the Olympic legacy programme designed to boost grassroots sport and volunteering. Over 2000 people came to see the torch and have their picture taken. Throughout the event many of people visited the Sport Makers stand to gain a greater understanding of the Olympic legacy program.

Across both days a number of people signed up to become a Sport Maker across a variety of sports and activities, thus ensuring the program is a huge success.
