The Zone Big Summer Adventure Week

The Zone was filled with a fantastic atmosphere throughout last week with children taking part in the first ever Big Summer Adventure Week.
For a whole week children aged from 6 – 13 years had the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities ranging from Dance and Drama to Rugby League and Football. The fun packed week also involved many other sports including Tri Golf, Ultimate Frisbee and Cricket with special guest visits from professional club mascots Big G and Terry the Terrier. Enjoyment and enthusiasm were the main aim of the week, where children had lots of fun learning about teamwork and new skills. Everyone was given a behind the scenes tour of the Galpharm Stadium and had lots of opportunity to enjoy the biggest playstructure in Yorkshire – the Playzone.
Huddersfield Giants players visited the children on the daily basis giving the children opportunities to ask questions and find out more about what it is like to be a professional sports star! Glenn Holdsworth, Community Development Officer at Huddersfield Giants commented:
"The week was just as much fun for the staff and the children. Everyday offered something different to inspire the children. To have the Huddersfield Giants players visit on a daily basis was fantastic and they interacted really well with the children. As the Huddersfield Giants are keen to promote the fantastic season ticket offer for 2012 (adults from £50, under 12's Free), it was great to see the players supporting this too. The end of week Showcase also provided the children an opportunity to display what they had been learning throughout the week and the amount of adults that joined us for the show was great to see."
The success of the new initiative will mean that the week long multi activity camps will be arranged at The Zone in the future so keep a look out!
