There are many ways we can help promote what you do:

• WYsport.co.uk brings in thousands of visitors interested in sport every month.
  We attract a varied mix of people looking for sport, working in the sporting sector or enjoying activity. 
  News, Events (spectator), Activities (participation) and Jobs pages - news style pages, displayed newest first
• Calendars: We reckon we have the biggest calendars of activities and coach education in the county. You can even add to them using your desktop diary by inviting "wyevents@gmail.com" - Check the simple instructions below! 
•  Social Media: We love it! So if you want to reach over half the population through the most revolutionary form of free marketing - we are ready to help. Check out the table below for our various profiles.
• Pictures, Video and design: We love to photograph, produce video (check out our youtube channel westyorkshiresport). We also design posters, flyers and can even write and produce strategic documents and brochures 
• Club Search: make sure your Club is in our Club Search the single database built and shared across the five Local Authorities
  
• Email Bulletins: We have Bulletin page on the site which we use to mail out fortnightly to to 2,500 sports professionals with the latest news, events activities and jobs - Deadline: Thursdays, 10am for inclusion
• CoachingWY.co.uk - our coaching website.

How to submit your stuff:

1. Website: Send stories (with pics if poss) for the News, Events, Jobs or Activities pages to wys.admin@wysport.co.uk 

2. Calendar: Add to our Activities calendar by creating an entry in your diary and invite "wyevents@gmail.com" See below to find out how...

3. Social Media:  feel free to follow & post tweets or befriend us and write on our Facebook walls.

Add your details to our calendar with your desktop diary!  

This is a really smart, quick and simple way to get your events etc listed.

1. Open your desktop diary

 

2. Create a new entry

Make sure you have a descriptive title, location, and details of what is happening (including up to 12 repeat sessions for ongoing activities)

 

3. Send it to us!

Go to "Invite Attendees" and invite 'wyevents@gmail.com' and click send! Done.

 

We will then move it to the appropriate public calendar; courses, events, activities etc.

NOTE: Attached files will not be copied across. If you want to add flyers or application forms, please include a download link to your own site or upload a public copy to Google Docs

Here's a few tips: 

FYI: Submitting news/events/activities

As a rule of thumb, Word documents make text editing easy but make photos uneditable and are huge files. PDFs do make lighter files, but also make text tricky to edit.

To make it easier for web content workers when it comes to news, we are simple folk – we like plain text like in an email and loose pics.

Posters are best sent as PDFs or JPGs, but even then having the loose text as well makes it easier for us to make it look good for you. 

We do try to publish everything we get sent, but if we get a jpg version of poster on deadline that needs typing out....

FYI: Pics

Yes, sending in a pic is just what we like. It makes the story look better and saves us from wearing holes in our random filler pics.

Picture size: the largest size we ever use is 1024 pixels (unless we are going to use it in a large promotional poster). Most cameras now shoot pictures so big that the file size can be over 3Mb! This is a little over the top and does nothing but slow down the internet and fill mailboxes. the "medium" setting on most cameras these days is more than good enough. Anything over a 1Mb file is probably more than good enough.

We love it. If you are into sport with an angle of interest to West Yorkshire - we will follow you, friend you and retweet with gratitude. If we get a friend request from a cosmetic dentist in the Outer Hebrides with a taste for colourful profanity, please don't be upset if we don't follow back.

Please post on our facebook walls, address tweets @wysport, add us on linkedin, join us on Google+. We can paste your links, but if you do it the conversation just gets bigger!  

Coaches and PPA

WYSport cannot support/advertise/endorse any statements of coaches covering* PPA time and PE Curriculum unless the coach also has QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Please be aware of this regulation from PE Consultants and the Association for PE (AfPE).

*(It is ok to advertise for coaches to be used in PPA / curriculum time in support of teachers i.e. if teachers are present)
