What is School Games?
- The School Games is the new approach to competitive school sport designed to motivate and enthuse all young people using the unique power and energy of London 2012.
- A key government priority for realising a meaningful sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- The School Games is designed to complement existing initiatives in schools which encourage a wide range of young people to participate in sport.
Infrastructure Support
As of September 2011, a newly established network of 18 School Games Organisers (funded for 3 days a week) will be in post in West Yorkshire. This team will be complimented by the Teacher Release posts (Secondary School Teachers employed for 1 day a week) to support the delivery of school games in their feeder primary schools to create a year round sporting calendar designed to get young people competiting at intra – school and inter school levels, culminating in county events.
