The BMC
We believe the BMC is an integral part of Climbing, Mountaineering, Hill Walking & National Governing Body Awards schemes in the UK & Europe. We whole heartily support their ethos & work they do in the outdoor world.

Who Are They
The national governing body for hill walkers, climbers & mountaineers since 1944. The public voice of 70,000+ members nationwide.
What They Do
Promote the interests of their members & oversee the development of climbing & mountaineering activities.
Amongst other things they;
- work with government agencies, landowners & conservation bodies to improve access to crags, mountains & coastal land
- carry out mountain conservation projects & crag restoration
- own & manage land & property for the benefit of all climbers
- provide mountain accommodation (huts) in Glen Coe, Skye, the Peak District & many more nationwide
- produce literature, guidebooks, web resources & DVD's promoting environmental good practice, skills & mountain safety
- support grassroots activism & keep you informed about the latest development in the outdoor world
- run subsidised course & events for members
How They Do It
Through the combined efforts of 27 staff, 9 groups of regional activists & high calibre volunteer network comprising of access representatives, youth co-ordinators, competition & event organisers & 10 specialist committees.
